How it works

Build exact phrase anagrams, not approximate matches

The solver accounts for every letter in the original text. Spaces, punctuation, and capitalization are ignored, but no letter can be added, removed, or reused.

  1. 01Count every letterNormalize the source into an exact letter inventory.
  2. 02Guide the searchApply grammar templates, phrase patterns, and vocabulary preferences when you know part of the answer.
  3. 03Explore and rankSearch local dictionaries across parallel workers, then rank exact phrases for readability and natural word order.
  4. 04Refine and reproduceEdit favorites, import or copy their complete search recipes, and share an animated exact-letter reveal.
Name anagrams

Discover memorable name anagrams

Names can produce thousands of exact combinations. Language-aware ranking, phrase-shape scoring, and short-phrase search specialists bring more readable ideas forward.

Find a specific phrase structure

Combine wildcard phrase patterns with templates such as [Noun] of [Noun] or [Verb] the [Noun]. Required words reserve their letters while preferred and excluded words steer ranking.

Reproduce, refine, and share anagram finds

Each Pick List entry stores a versioned recipe containing its source, search settings, relevant custom vocabulary, runtime details, rank, and later edits. Copy recipes for other people, or import pasted JSON and recipe files after a local exactness check. Restore and rerun the search, then share a compact animation link that opens directly into a focused 16:9 reveal.

Personal dictionary

Add names and specialist vocabulary

Paste up to 500 proper names, places, technical terms, or topical words into Personal vocabulary. Relevant entries become available to the local solver without being automatically required, and the list stays in this browser.

Pro mode

Search long anagrams up to 60 letters

Experimental Pro mode extends the standard 30-letter limit to 60 letters. It checks the device, assigns a hardware-aware time budget, and divides different parts of the search across parallel Rust/WebAssembly workers.

Harry Potter and the Order of the PhoenixPortrayed orphaned hero for the next hit

Guided search: enable Pro mode, set Maximum words to 8, and add portrayed, orphaned, hero under Required.

Local performance

Watch the anagram search work

A deterministic core pass checks high-value short and connector-led phrase structures first, so headline results are less dependent on device speed. The remaining workers expand the search until the selected 30, 60, or 120-second budget is reached.

Better results

How to use the advanced anagram filters

  • Phrase pattern: paste a complete known phrase to verify it directly, or use ? for one unknown letter and * for any number.
  • Grammar template: request a noun, verb, or adjective structure; connector words are reserved automatically. Build and drag custom slots when a preset is not specific enough.
  • Required: include one or more confirmed words in every generated result. These words must use letters available in the source.
  • Preferred: promote interesting vocabulary without making it mandatory.
  • Excluded: remove distracting words or families of unwanted results.
  • Personal vocabulary: add proper names or specialist terms missing from the built-in dictionary. “Relevant” means the word can be formed from the source letters.
  • Maximum words: set this at least as high as the expected result. A seven-word phrase cannot appear when the maximum is six.
  • Search depth: start with Deep and use Exhaustive when breadth matters more than speed.
  • Time budget: Auto uses 15 seconds for Quick, 60 for Deep, and 120 for Exhaustive. A longer budget expands discovery after the deterministic core pass. Every device runs the same high-value core search, but faster hardware may explore more combinations during the remaining time and discover additional results.
  • Pro mode: enable it for sources containing 31–60 letters. Longer searches are ranked and time-limited rather than guaranteed to enumerate every possibility.
  • Dictionary: Standard contains 172,820 words and is faster. Expanded contains 867,177 Wiktionary-derived words, finds more unusual vocabulary, and can introduce additional noise.
  • Pick List recipes: new picks retain their source, discovery settings, runtime details, original rank, and Phrase Studio edits. Use the more-actions menu to view, restore, rerun, copy, or share a recipe. Import a copied recipe or JSON file to reproduce someone else’s find.

Private, local anagram generation

Your source phrase, filters, generated results, and Pick List remain in your browser. The Rust/WebAssembly search engine loads local word data and does not send the text you enter to a remote solving service.

Questions

Anagram solver FAQ

What is a phrase anagram?

A phrase anagram rearranges every letter from a name or phrase into new words. Spaces, punctuation, and capitalization do not affect the match.

Are all results exact?

Yes. Each displayed phrase is validated against the source and must contain exactly the same letters.

How are anagram results ranked?

The solver estimates readability and naturalness using word frequency, grammar, local phrase evidence, word order, and phrase shape. Exactness is guaranteed, but ranking is an estimate rather than a claim that the first result is always the cleverest.

How do grammar templates help find anagrams?

Templates constrain results to structures such as [Noun] of [Noun] and [Verb] the [Noun]. The solver automatically reserves literal connector words such as “of” or “the.”

Can I add names or specialist words to the dictionary?

Yes. Personal vocabulary accepts up to 500 words or names and stores them in this browser. A personal word is available only when its letters occur in the source; add it to Required as well if every result must contain it.

Why do some searches take longer?

Long phrases, larger dictionaries, high maximum word counts, short minimum word lengths, and Exhaustive depth create far more combinations to explore. Worker progress and search throughput show what the local engine is doing.

Why did my search return no results?

Confirm that required words can be built from the source, that Maximum words can accommodate the expected result, and that the minimum word length does not exclude a needed word. For a known complete answer, paste it into Phrase pattern for a direct exact check.

How do I find a specific phrase?

Paste a known complete result into Phrase pattern, add its structure with a Grammar template, include confirmed words as Required, or mark promising vocabulary as Preferred.

What is experimental Pro mode?

Pro mode accepts source phrases containing 31–60 letters and adjusts its ranked search budget to the device. Because the possible combinations grow rapidly, reaching the time budget does not prove that no other exact anagram exists.

What can I do in the Pick List phrase editor?

Open Edit to reorder words, lock and reposition words, inspect local WordNet definitions for a selected word and its proposed replacement, apply an exact-letter replacement, style capitalization and punctuation, preview the result, and copy the finished phrase.

Can I import and rerun someone else’s recipe?

Yes. Use Import recipe in the Pick List to paste copied JSON or choose a recipe file. The browser validates schema version 1 and confirms that the source and result are exact anagrams before adding it. You can then restore its settings or run the search again.

How do animated anagram links work?

Share find creates a compact link containing the source, exact result, and animation choices. It opens in a focused 16:9 view showing only the locally rendered letter animation; no large video upload is required.

What does the vulgar-word filter do?

It removes clearly explicit and profane dictionary entries before searching. It can be disabled under Advanced options.

Where is my Pick List stored?

The Pick List, imported recipes, personal vocabulary, and formatting choices are saved locally in this browser. Copy a recipe if you want to move a find to another browser or share it with someone else.

How long can an anagram phrase be?

Standard mode accepts source phrases containing 2 to 30 letters. Experimental Pro mode extends the limit to 60 letters with hardware-aware time budgets.
